Classic
Designer: Larry Ewing and The GIMP / October Toys

Based on Tux, the Linux mascot created by Larry Ewing and The GIMP, we are pleased to present our Classic Gwin.
Larry Ewing developed Tux in the mid-90s after Linus Torvalds (the creator of Linux) suggested a "contented" penguin for the mascot. Torvalds expanded, "Now, with penguins, (cuddly such), "contented" means it has either just gotten laid, or it's stuffed on herring. Take it from me, I'm an expert on penguins, those are really the only two options."

In case you hadn't guessed by our name, we like Halloween. Ghosties, goblins, and of course, skeletons! This poor penguins untimely demise was obviously brought about by bad fish...a red herring to be exact!

Strange Fruit

It seems like I have been collecting toys since age zero, and I have
been lucky enough to work in the toy industry since 1994. Some recent
lines that I have worked on, along with my partners at Four Horsemen,
have been the re-launch of Masters of the Universe, the new Batman line
by Mattel, and the Nightmare Before Christmas line released by NECA.

What can be said about idlechimp? I love being still and trees. I have been a professional in the toy industry since 1998, but have been enjoying the world of toys and plush since 1975. When I'm not being idle, I like to customize toys. My first custom was a skateboard deck that I made into an Airwalk board back in the '80s. Oh...and I like pirates.

Hard To Swallow

Raised by the military and monitored by men in white coats until he was 16, Doktor A has always scribbled monsters. "You will never make a living drawing little men" said a teacher once. They were nearly right. Dr.A has to draw, design and build little men to make a living. These dubious skills have seen him work in theatre, Tv, advertising, magazines, toy design and the music industry. A scalpel, a brush, an electric pencil and a sugar fueled imagination are his tools of choice.

This particular Gwin was inspired by a friends bathroom. Yes...a bathroom. It happens to be a bathroom decked out in rubber duckies of all kinds. We tried to capture the simple playfulness of a classic yellow rubber duck design.

What can I say? I love penguins! Being from California, I have no idea what living in real snow is like, but this is what I would imagine an urban penguin would look like in snow...with no clothes.
When I'm not admiring penguins, I can usually be found behind my computer or watching John Landis movies. I might also be playing with the greatest invention ever...the Wii.

I'm a (nearly) 32 year old designer from the UK. Spend most of my time hunting for jobs and creating weird worlds in my head. I've created a design for Qee Series 5B and Trexie Series 1 and hope for more design opportunities to come my way. I'm often found hanging in my bedroom with travelling circus freaks and ladies of the night, but occasionally I venture out to the local watering whole to part take of fizzy apple juice which fuels my imagination to the extreme. I hope one day to unleash my world upon the unsuspecting toy buying public, so be warned this day could be just around the corner... you never know...TM
